Synergy's Background

Established in 2017, Synergy, a social harmony organization, is committed to fostering social cohesion in Myanmar, with a specific focus on promoting interfaith and interethnic harmony. The organization gained recognition for its widely embraced white rose campaign and other innovative peace initiatives within the country. Before the coup, Synergy's programs concentrated on preventing religious tensions and violence, emphasizing the importance of communal harmony.

Synergy has been at the forefront of advocating for the rights of the Rohingya ethnic minority, standing up against discrimination and championing minority issues within Burmese society. Following the coup in 2021, Synergy took a proactive approach by launching the Spring Revolution Interfaith Network, bringing together diverse religious leaders. Additionally, it established the People's Rescue Force, a humanitarian and civilian protection team.

While participating as a civil society member in the NUCC (National Unity Consultative Council) for policy dialogue, Synergy has played a crucial role in supporting the relocation of leaders from the interfaith network, human rights defenders, and participants in the Civil Disobedient Movement (CDM) to secure locations . In 2022 alone, the People's Rescue Force, an initiative by Synergy, successfully relocated over 200 individuals to safe places, both inside and outside of Myanmar.

Synergy has maintained a robust online presence, utilizing it to raise awareness about minorities and alternative political perspectives. The organization conducts a series of public dialogues, Music Videos, providing a platform for people to engage in discussions on social, political, and other issues amid the challenging circumstances following the coup. An online virtual gathering space has been created to expand cyber space for the civil movements.

Leveraging its background in human rights, experience in working with similar communities, and strong research and analytical skills, Synergy demonstrates a profound understanding of the complexities of the crisis. The organization's proven capabilities in networking, advocacy, and cultural sensitivity make it an ideal candidate for addressing the sensitive and crucial tasks at hand.
